Trading the Post Office

The US Postal Service is lobbying to cut its Saturday delivery in an effort to reduce costs. If it will save jobs, I am all for it. If people want Saturday delivery, they can pay for it by shipping UPS or FedEx. Anyone smell a short-term trading opportunity? If this goes through, which I think is very possible, UPS and FDX might see a pop. So far, these stocks have not participated much in the rally. Both stocks remain near their 52-wk lows.

500 Members!

I'm thrilled to see Social Membership hit 500, but I'm more excited that the quality of content has grown with our membership. It's always been a concern that as StockTock grew, the site would sacrifice quality for popularity, like Yahoo Message Boards. But this has not happened. Instead, the quality seems to be improving as the size of our network increases. I can't be sure of how this is happening, but I can only thank the entire community for their commitment to sharing their valuable knowled… Continue

444 Members and Counting ~ 500 by Year End?

Social membership is up to 444 and rising quickly.

In September, StockTock set a goal to reach 500 members by year-end. What once seemed impossible may now very well happen.

Thank you to everyone for helping spread the word about our great community. If everyone invites just one person that would benefit from StockTock Social, we could crack 500 members in no time. Remember, the larger the community, the more we can leverage each others' collective knowledge.

It's easy to invite people to joi… Continue

Posting here from the crappy computer again.

Craig? Is that you? Dude, how ya been doin? LOL. I just hope the other readers get the joke.

Thanks for the complements on the blog. It is new and I'm still figuring how to put inteligent posts together. I'd love to link to here or do whatever to help out. It would be an honor. I have ST featured and whenI steal something from here I do my best t promote ST. I also mention ST in my post on stockcharts. Just let me know what you want me to do. OH, I would like the keys to the site so I can open up in the mornings if possible and so I can add charts wt the top in daily commentary.

And NO I DON'T SOUND LIKE THE DUDE CALLING THE BOTTOM or however you put it. I have learned from the great Kenny and you to always leave an out and/or anther option. that way i don't sound like a tootal idiot. LOL.

Hope you are doing well. Take care.

I think my last blog post was really good. Charts were ending formations everywhere. They all pointed down.

This was cool - got this from tdtrader.com

T-Bill Yields Fall Again*** The 13-week TBill Yield ($IRX) closed at .09% on Monday and continues to offer virtually no return on investment. T-Bills offer a low-risk place to park large amounts of money for a short time. Is risk aversion really the reason? Some pundits think the Fed is buying up short-term T-Bills to drive the yield down and to discourage institutions from buying T-Bills. The low yields in Sep-Oct were most likely caused by financial institutions buying T-Bills in a flight to safety. However, the November decline could be different and the Fed's invisible hand could be at work. If banks do not buy T-Bills because of their ridiculously low yields, then they must do something else with their money. This means loaning it out other banks and businesses to get the credit markets moving again. I find this theory interesting, and even plausible. I will continue to focus on the 13-week TBill Yield ($IRX), but will keep an open mind with regards to stocks. In other words, low TBill yields may not necessarily thwart a rally.

Still can't send you notes from this computer. Just strange.

Just found your note from the 14th. Thanks for the mentoring. I appreciate your rambling. I do tend to get caught on one side, but rarely do I miss an exit. If anything I tend to leave too early, but I am learning to use 1/2 positions etc which helps. I missed this bear run unfortunately because every EW person on the planet was predicting a bounce. My bad. Live and learn. I do not like to enter unless there is clarity, thus I missed the whole run. Tomorrow will be a big day. I went back and looked at all those charts and figured out where I was wrong on my TA call. Thanks. I am right this time! Look at your 1h charts and start laying down trendlines on top and bottom. Patterns ending tomorrow or today are everywhere. I'm thinking we've come to some sort of super point in time that will lead to something large if we can get the volume. ST seems to be holding up well thus far. Number of posts are still up there. Yahoo invaders don't get a rise anymore and hit and run. The core community is intact and we all feed off each other. We all have different strengths. We do miss you. I hope the new gig is working out. Maybe someday you'll let us know what you are doing. Take care.

Believe it or not, I can't post this to your in box. I guess same prob with this computer.

Sweet. I know that you can't baby sit the world and answer a qazillion questions. Your talent is exceptional. You can't leave us hangin down here. Like leading cattle to the pasture and then leaving them to fend for themselves without food and water. This is a once in a lifetime market. You have been pack leader from calling the top to now. I thought you would want to call the bottom. I figured it would be a once in a lifetime adventure/accention/accomplishment that you'd have to see thru. Look at what you have built. I'd love to see the numbers. Look at the community. Dude, you have assembled some serious brainpoer here. The community is taking form. I'll take your word for it that we're headed tot eh next level. Maybe some type of pay for play rather than donate for fun. Social members get in at 1/2 price LOL.

If you want the herd to stay intact, give us some guidance at night. Consistently. If you hang out at social in the evenings. Drop off a few charts and go, that should be enough to keep the herd in the pen. A lunchtime post would bring a roar from the crowd for sure.

Stay in touch. I'd appreciate it.
